A Separate Peace
By John Knowles

Ok, so Mr. Jason Smith's blog site is pretty much dead. He told me that he doesn't have the time to do it anymore. This is sad to me. He really got me started on the whole blog thing...so... I'm writing something for him. Kind of a roast/honorarium. I don't know when it's going to be done, but I think both he and ya’ll will like it.

In other news, Andrew Osenga has a new site that will be up in running in a few days. IF YOU'RE NOT INTO ANDREW OSENGA BY NOW....I am very disappointed by now.

Also, Andrew Peterson has a new Album coming out on August 30th. It's call The Far Country. Go check that out too.

Also, Also, Derek Webb has a DVD and CD coming out this fall. Get those.

Also, Also, Also, Greg Adkin is slowly but surly get his album together with Andy O. If you want to hear what he sounds like check out his myspace: http://www.myspace.com/gregadkins

Also x4, I'm still looking for an apartment up in B-ham. The house I was going to get fell through, so if ya’ll could be praying. I would really like a roof to live under while I'm going to school.

Well, that be it for now. Until next time,

Love from Your Brother

P.S. Also. Thanks for all the comments on the last post. It encouraged me greatly, and I'm starting to read through Ecc. in the ol' Bible :). Thanks again!

Thoughts after reading lines written by a simple fish, swimming in the river of life.

Tonight I will go to bed. I have no idea how many breaths I will take. I don't know if I will breathe at all. My heart may stop, or I may have one of those nights where you just don't sleep. It's more like dreaming you're awake, so rest doesn't come.

I have been thinking about scripture, and how little I know.

"I caught you a delicious bass."
"I've got a lovely box of coconuts."
"Oh my gosh, Becky..."
"Jesus you'll have to come get me"
"I run to the arms of another song"
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.

You know what I mean. This is what I know; what is bound to my forehead and heart. Sometimes the only scent of worship that rises from my lips, is the stinch of a half open mouth who's eyes are lost in an altogether empty screen. I feed my addiction and turn the channel.

Yes, I am addicted too so many things in this world.

Go get a stop watch and time how many minutes you can quote straight scripture.
Then reset and see how many song lyrics and movie lines you can quote.

I can go at least 2 hours with just Monty Python.
And 2 seconds with Genesis.

Do I know what the first words of Jesus were in John? Not a chance.

Do I know theology? You're darn toot'n.
Do I tithe? Every once in a while.

Do I feed the hungry? No.
Clothe the naked? No.
Do I look after widows and orphans? Not as I should.

Sometime Truth + Beauty = Goodness is just a justification to watch and listen to pure garbage while people starve in the street.

And I don't know the difference between good and evil, because I do not know scripture.

I was given shoes, but I have no feet to stand on.

Conclusion: I am a hypocrite.

Thank you Lord for loving me, no matter what. Thank you Lord. God forgive me and make me stronger

Love from Your Brother.

East of Eden
By John Steinbeck

Something that I will always love about Peyton is how she can spot things. Yesterday, it was a beetle that was trying to save itself by grabbing hold of a frogs leg. This led to the frog not being able to move, and both of them floating helplessly in the pool.

Today we saw something really amazing, yet so common. One of those things that we wouldn't really notice, but for some reason the light hits it at the right angle and your eyes are drawn toward it. Peyton spotted a spider. Well, we thought it was a spider. We counted the legs. Four on the left side, three on the other. Weird spider, huh? The longer we watched it the less it looked like the spider was moving, and more like it was floating. He wasn't crawling, but rather gliding across the rough asphalt. Then we noticed something even more peculuar. One of the legs broke off from the right side, wondered around on it's own, and then join the group of legs on the left side. This was too weird! Looking around we saw tiny spider legs crawling in different patches of the asphalt. We looked back at the spider. All at once what we had seen changed dramatically. We went from wonder, to knowledge. Student to teacher. Child to adult. What we thought was the body of a floating spider, became a beetle lieing on it's back while being carried by ants.

Moral of the story: If you don't have anything to do today, get someone you like hanging out with, and go look for beetles.

Love from Your Brother.

*Reading Annie Dillard Pilgrim at Tinker Creek and John Steinbecks East of Eden really opens your eyes to look for things. I recommend both for a good read.

Well, I thought I would get one of these just to post on peoples sites and try out the format. So far, me like-y.
